The Founders

Christine Ahiagbede & George Fiawoo

As a worker with the youth service we the founders, I, Christine Ahiagbebe and Mr. George Fiawoo started running a cultural and arts Group which became officially known as Agudze Dance Ensemble after they have been approached by the youth service to improve the group operations and make it active all across the borough.

As a co-founder I have helped organize the Groups Performance and activities in various events across that borough since inception.

Mr. Greoge Fiawoo as a school teacher in Ghana as well as a professional dance and drummer was a member of the Sankofa troupe which moved to the UK in the 1974's. Als he was an active member of Aklowa Dance Group working as a lead drummer as well as organizing after School club activities and workshops for Harringey Council.

As former team members we both started working together in the borough organizing school workshops, summer street activities, street dance performances at west end and also organizing trips in and around the UK as well as outside England (Guernsey youth Exchange)

Together as a team we also started doing long term projects in varios schools and capping it with performances at the end.

The group also undertakes theatre activities and performances across London.

Agudze accepted an offer from the LBWF Arts council to organize and event called Hello Africa during the 1980's

The Group became the First to win the Afrikan Caribbean Carnival costume design competition for four consecutive times running. Also the group partakes in the carnival celebrations.

Over the years the group has undertook various disability workshops and projects in various special needs school and in the comminity special centers.

The group founders were initially youth Services, Arts Council and Great London Arts. Presently funders supporting the group include The LBWF grant aid, WFAC, O-regen, Arts in Education, Award for all, Bridge House, Heritage and London Quadrant community Investment as well as Arts and Leisure (Life Long Learning)
